Spiral Staircase Remodeling

At Great Lakes Stair we speak to a lot of customers about spiral staircase remodeling. We often encounter some confusion regarding what a spiral stair is compared to a circular or curved staircase. A spiral staircase is a stair that wraps around a pole symmetrically and is made for small spaces to traverse floors. A circular or curved staircase does a sweeping (non-symmetrical) turn.

In speaking with customers, they will send us photos of their circa 1960’s or 1970’s spiral stairs which have missing spindles or an old pipe handrailing and ask us if there is anything we can do with this staircase. Yes there is! We can add a new metal or wood handrailing. We can possibly add wooden treads to the top of the existing metal steps. We can add new decorative spindles to give the spiral staircase a more modern aesthetic.
